The United Kingdom has pledged £1.33 million in humanitarian aid to assist Pakistan’s relief efforts amid devastating monsoon floods that have affected hundreds of thousands across the country.
The funding will help more than 223,000 people in seven districts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Gilgit Baltistan (GB), providing emergency food, water, medical support, and rehabilitation for affected communities.
UK support includes training 2,400 community volunteers for search and rescue operations in flood-hit areas, ensuring timely assistance to people trapped under debris or stranded due to collapsed infrastructure.
Mobile medical camps are being set up where local clinics were damaged, giving communities continuous access to essential healthcare, while non-food items, shelter materials, and women’s dignity kits are being distributed to displaced families.
The UK is also helping restore drinking water systems, repair irrigation channels, and support livelihoods and agriculture, enabling affected communities to recover faster from the severe damage caused by landslides and floods.
Heavy monsoon rains over the past week have caused widespread destruction, killing nearly 750 people since the season began, while national authorities continue coordinating with humanitarian agencies to provide aid and rescue services efficiently.
