ISLAMABAD: During an Al-Azizia and Flagship case hearing, the accountability court on Wednesday summoned Wajid Zia to appear on March 29.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar arrived in Islamabad to attend the hearing regarding the case.
Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Harris recorded statements before the court, after which the hearing was adjourned and Wajid Zia, who lead the Joint-Investigation Team (JIT) probing the Panama Papers case, was summoned to appear on March 29 to record his statements.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed three interim corruption references against the Sharif family in September 2017 over the Supreme Court’s July 28 verdict in the Panama Papers case. NAB also filed supplementary references in Azizia, Flagship and Avenfield cases.
Earlier on March 14, three witnesses of the prosecution, a private bank employee Shahzadi, NAB assistant director Waqar Ahmed and finance expert Sher Khan also recorded statements and presented relevant documents before the court.
On Tuesday, Wajid Zia recorded his statement on Tuesday in the Avenfield properties reference and also submitted some documents before the court.
